County Wicklow's singing for health groups are coming together for the first time, on World Singing Day.
Join us for a relaxed, informal and inclusive space where each group will share songs and stories from their community, with opportunities for everyone to sing together.
The morning includes a welcome from the Healthy Ireland Coordinator for Wicklow, followed by sharing, singing and learning from each other, the focus is participation rather than performance. The morning will conclude with a light lunch and time to chat and get to know each other.
Friends, family, carers and invited guests are welcome to join this new singing for health initiative.

Why Singing for Health Matters
Singing for health groups meet every week across County Wicklow, each serving a particular community. A shared condition may be what brings people through the door, but it is not the focus of the hour that follows. In these groups, members find a place to sing, to laugh, and to be among people who understand.
What happens in those rooms is well documented. The benefits of group singing, from breathing and voice to memory, mood and social connection, are established, and research commissioned by the Arts Council and the HSE has mapped how arts and creativity are already being used within social prescribing across Ireland.
Wicklow has been quietly doing this work for years, in groups running in parallel and often unaware of one another. Wicklow Sings For Health aims to bring them together, and to build the connection between them and those whose work sits alongside theirs, strengthening both this provision and the people in a position to point others towards it.
